i am in uia now, did i mention?

anyways, there's been rife rumours circulating that i am from singapore/brunei. now where did that come from? just coz i hang out with the foreigners (that is not a nice term, by the way, but all of them use it. i usually use internationals) they think i'm a foreigner as well, one who can't speak malay.

whenever we are told to introduce ourselves, they usually ask us where we are from. where am i from? i have no idea. i'm from malaysia, i'd say. stupidly, because its obvious (except to those who thionk i'm from abroad) but what else am i supposed to say. what do they mean when they say where are you from? is it where i live or where i was born or where i have lived? because they all have different answers.

today we had a group discussion for my structure class. one of my group members never showed, nobody knows who she is. then one of my group mates says maybe its that negro girl. i just looked at him, aghast, because who in the world would say that? say african or something, better yet say sudanese, because thats where she is from, and she is a friend of mine who got unlucky just because she lived in oman.

[see, she came to uia to study architecture, and was accepted, and had already joined our class for like 2 weeks. then suddenly the admissions and records dept call her and say she has to go to matric because she lived in oman before. apparantly this is a new ruling that comes because it has een found that the arabs have trouble following lectures and stuff. but she speaks good english, and in oman, she was already in uni, studying applied arts and design, which in uia is in the same kulliyah as arch. so confusing. poor girl]

anyway, the guy didn;t seem to sense me looking incredulous.

my building construction n materials  class is cancelled, which is good. it would have run from 8-10. pm. then i wouldve had another project discussion.
